Bosch VideoJet 1000 Wins Gold

Consulting-Specifying Engineer’s annual Perfect 10 Awards named the Bosch VideoJet 1000 DVR/transceiver “Gold” Product of the Year in the communications/security category.

The awards program recognizes innovative new products in the plumbing, electrical, and mechanical engineering markets. A panel of industry leaders in engineering consulting narrowed the submitted products to three finalists in each category – the magazine’s 46,000 readers then voted to determine the winners.

The VideoJet 1000 was also a finalist in Access Control & Security Systems' Top Product of the Year Awards.

A single channel DVR/transceiver, the VideoJet 1000 offers dual streaming that allows users to dedicate a stream at one frame rate for recording and a different stream for live viewing. The unit includes a built-in hard drive and MPEG-2/MPEG- 4 options, as well as two-way audio inputs and outputs. The unit's 120 MB internal storage capacity enables over one month's worth of video storage per VideoJet, and more if motion detection is used. This optional "recording at the edge", or storing video locally in the encoder near the analog camera rather than centrally in a network video recorder, eliminates the use of the network for day-to-day recording, significantly reducing the load on network bandwidth.

The VideoJet 1000 incorporates Bosch’s Network Video Recorder (NVR), which features IP video, audio, and alarm information recording on RAID5 fault tolerant disk arrays to provide long-term video storage. The system can be extended to support any number of cameras by adding the appropriate number of NVR units. Video can be managed either in a standard web browser or through Bosch’s VIDOS video management system. Alternatively, to maximize the picture quality, the video can be viewed on CCTV analog monitors using one of the hardware decoders.

The VideoJet 1000 is part of Bosch’s family of IP network video products that integrate with existing analog products and networks. Compared to converting to all digital products, this offers users substantial cost savings by preserving their existing investments.
