GE Security Releases Facility Commander Service Pack

GE Security has announced the immediate availability of Service Pack 1 for Facility Commander version 2.1.

Facility Commander is a security integration platform that integrates access control, digital video, analog CCTV matrix switchers, intercom, and intrusion systems. The product uses the latest components in Java technology, is based on IT standards, and runs on commercial off-the-shelf platforms. Facility Commander provides interoperability between security systems from different vendors, and gives the security operator a single, intuitive console that can manage these different systems.

Service Pack 1 for Facility Commander version 2.1 offers the following new features:

Product Enhancements

Video Speed Slider
This new control in the Video Viewer allows users to control the speed of recorded video playback. When camera record frame rates of 1 or 2 frames per second are used, playback can be very quick and give a choppy appearance. The speed slider allows the user to adjust the rate of play.

Configurable parameter for low bandwidth networks
Video frames from high-resolution color cameras require substantial network bandwidth. This system-wide setting enables users to view video over low bandwidth networks. Set the bandwidth setting to low, and the system will automatically send black and white video at a lower resolution.

Support for new GE video recorders using WaveJet compression
Store Safe Pro II is GE's first digital video recorder that uses the new WaveJet compression. WaveJet compression offers double the storage of our traditional Wavelet compression. Look for the new WaveJet compression version of the DVMRe to be released soon.

Red Hat Linux ES 3.0 support
Facility Commander has been tested and certified to run on Red Hat Linux ES 3.0. Please note that there are minor changes in the OS installation (from Red Hat Linux 7.3 to Red Hat Linux ES 3.0) and that the Facility Commander Installation Guide has not been changed to reflect these.

Defect fixes
Fixes were made in the following areas:

Video performance improvements when multiple clients view video streamed from the same video recorder (DVR)
Simplified Chinese translation
Russian translation

For new customers, the Facility Commander 2.1 installation CD incorporates Service Pack 1.
